One of the best ways to ensure your items make it to their destination unscathed is to pack them properly. Most people pack their belongings incorrectly simply because they are unaware of the right way. Properly packing your items not only is in your best interest, but is in the best interest of your local courier, too.
Here are just a few packing tips that you should be sure to keep in mind:
Before you start cramming your items into boxes, stock up on packing supplies. Make sure you have plenty of:
If your budget is tight, you can substitute bubble wrap and packing peanuts for recycled newspaper. Similarly, while packing tape is preferred, duck tape or masking tape will work as well.
Instead of packing items with no regard for organization, group items in away that make sense. For example, if you’re dealing with fragile items, put them in their own box and label them as “Fragile.” If you have a bunch of rectangular-shaped items and other items that are oddly-shaped, separate them from each other. Also be sure to wrap items individually, and once you’ve closed the lid, confirm that all items are secure/none are moving around freely.
Weigh it Down
Use common sense when packing heavy items. If you’re including a heavy item with other, lighter items, make sure to place it on the bottom of the package so that it doesn’t damage other items. Also be sure not to overpack – doing so may cause the package to come apart and also makes things harder for your courier.
